Canada kicks some serious butt!

http://www.cbc.ca/olympics/stories/h...coc060226.html

Per capita Canada kicked some *SERIOUS* butt here and is the overall winner by a long shot.

Well done all. Congrats! You not only deserve it, we are damn proud of you.

You have made our nation stand tall on the world scene.

Speak for yourself - the men did poorly, due to their being pompous asses, on the other hand - the women

YAY ! You showed them how to do it.

Why am I not surprised at Opie's negative, downer comments that demean not only all our extraordinary Olympic achiements this year, but she nails men to boot!?

Just the most pathetic loser I've ever encountered in my life.

Fact of the matter is she's right. The woman's hockey team shone while the men's hockey team sucked.

At any rate it was Canada's best showing at an Olymppic Games, winter or summer. While I think being the winner at the 2010 Olympics is rather optimistic, a second place finish may be very possible.

At any rate, congratulations to all the cpmpetitors.

I have to agree with JK on the one point, while men's hockey may not have been up to everyone's expectations, that does not mean that the entire men's part of the Olympic team "sucked", and saying that was ignorant at best.

Now, since I don't pay attention to the Olympics, how many of the medals were won by Canaduh, and how many were won by men? (I only heard about the lady speed skater who got 5, which is damn impressive).

Thank you - they think they just have to appear - and they win.

Now they know otherwise - they got rapped & beaten, by superior players.

And of course - the women worked harder & deserved their wins.

No the entire men's part didn't suck. Just the hockey players.

If my tally is correct, the women got sixteen medals while the men got eight.

Even then, they won no medals, but did they not at least get up to the semis? If so, they didn't suck, they just didn't perform to the high expectations that all those arrogant hockey fans had for them (arrogant in that they think that only Canadians know how to play good hockey).

They got knocked out in the quarter finals.

Most of the commentary went along the lines that the Canadian men played more like individuals than like a team.

Either way, it was only a matter of time, money and work, before Canada got out played.

Simple truth

is the men's hockey team was not a team. It was a collection of millionaire prima donnas who were all trying to be the super star and never had the concept of a 'team'.

This 'sport', shoudl either be eliminated or left to the true amateurs. The only reason the so-called "pro's" are in there is because Canada was facing increasingly strong competition and afraid of losing as badly as they did on this outing.

Get the bums out of there.

As for the women. WELL DONE PERSONS OF THE FEMALE PERSUASION!! More than made up for the dismal performance by the prima donnas.

It would be nice if the Olympics went back to amateurs but I don't expect that to happen.

As for the NHL prima donnnas, one would have expected better play out of them. I was listening to Cherry yesterday. He was saying that after 2010 the NHL players may not be participating in the Olympics.

Then maybe we can get something like the women's hockey team.

The men placed 7th.

Worst Olympic showing ever by a Canadian men's hockey team.

I repeat

It wasn't a 'team', just a collction of prima-donnas who, by definition, do not work well as a 'team'.

Bingo! I don't know why professionals are playing in the Olympics to begin with.

Professionals

because of the money.

Even the so-called "Amateurs" are mostly paid to train in the major countries. Gone are the days when little Joanie or Jimmy spent all their free time training at the local gym in hopes of getting good enough. Olympics is big business as we will learn to our everlasting sorrow leading up to and long after 2010.
