A plot to kill Fidel Castro

According to Mike Craft, one time Mobster, he was told, by his superiors, to assassinate Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau in the summer of 1974. Not because Trudeau was a bad Prime Minister, or tht there was anything personal against Trudeau, but he was friends with Castro. Who the Mob hated because when Castro took over in Cuba he tossed the Mob off the island and closed their casinos. The idea was to assassinate Trudeau, and then try and kill Castro when he left Cuba for Trudeau's funeral.

I can't help but wonder in what ways that might have changed history.

Probably very different. Depending on who took over from Trudeau. McEchern(sp) maybe, Trudeau did appoint him Deputy PM in 1977, there was no Deputy PM before that. More than likely the Liberals would not have such a long period in power. Whether you like Trudeau, or dislike him, no other PM even came close.

AS for what would happen in Cuba - who knows.

But it wouldn't have changed history, it would have been history.

It would have been history. But with different people had the head of Canada, and Cuba, what happened since the summer of 1974 might hav ebeen different than what did happen.

Maybe Cuba would have invaded Florida in the aftermath of an assassination, instead of going into Angola........

is the history. All else is speculation.
