It's all about Vancouver/Whistler

All this hoopla about 2010 Winter Games being a good for British Columbia kinda wants to make one gag. Let's be honest, this is all about Vancouver/Whistler. The marketing agents for the 2010 Winter Games won't the money stray to far from Whistler/Vancouver that's for sure. Any Ski Resorts outside thinking they'll get a piece of the Olympic Pie, will be sadly mistaken. Gordan & the Gang headed that topic off long ago. As far as BCTV goes, ooooh they have their finger in the pie there, so much for " British Columbia's" TV Station, ya right as them where Salmo or Dease lake is.. ha ha ha

It's all about Vancouver/Whistler ... oooohhh but the rest of us get to pay for it ...

Did you NOTICE Bum - there's lots of other topics/threads on here already about Olympics. ? B C has stated to try keep ALL items relating to same thing on one thread.

All you need do if you want to ADD an opinion, is hit REPLY TO POST down in your right corner.

Up will pop your little space to type your text - it saves everyone looking all over the place - plus B C likes it that way.

Here it is, today (01 March'04) and the very idea of the Olympics being held in the most prosperous area of British Columbia, steams me! I kind of figure that everyone living outside the Vancouver-Whistler corridor whould be holding back on a portin of theri taxes, and let the richest part of BC pay for the Olympics.

The NDP made mistakes granted.

You prefer what the Liberals are doing now to B.C. ? Your support of the Greens has helped further the destruction of our Environment in B.C.

But the Greens wanted all, or nothing, didn't they ? ?

So, in B.C. we now don't have an 'official opposition Party' - that helped us all didn't it ? ?

Thanks Greens - the Libs are still praying, banking on you, and the words of Carr.

Read Michael Smyth & Vaughn Palmer on this one.

One quote was "The Libs are loving the Greens"

No leap - just logical conclusion.

You just keep supporting the Greens Rick, it's important that the Green viewpoint be represented in BC. We can always hope that the Citizen's Assembly will allow us to vote in a better government in 2010...or 09...whenever it will be. Hopefully the Greens will be represented if we get proportional representation, or something like it.

The Green viewpoint was far better represented by the former government, than it EVER will be with what we have in B.C. now.

So I assume you like the Liberals being in power.

Just to get you all back on track. The Oldlimppricks is all about making rich people richer, do a little research into who benefited from the past examples of this kind of event.

You got that right Bill...MOST of us know that..except for the very very few..that continue to jump for joy and wave their pompoms.

How are we going to pay for this..when we are kicking old folks out of care homes, shutting schools down (94 or 95 now since the Libs took power) and shutting hospitals down. Never mind the thousands being thrown out of work and forced to work at less than a tenth of the wage these rich fat cats make.

And of course, selling our assets off at firesale prices...NEVER to be reclaimed again due to NAFTA.

I wouldn't run my own household and accounts the way these nitwits (the Libs) do. Probably could do a better job of it as well!

Ain't this what they call "rhetorical"? Of course it was, Opie! But the "former government" didn't do much"greening" in their 10 years. It's just an "add-on", and when the unions whine, it gets put in a closet.

The "spinoffs" resulted in a few people getting a few jobs for a little while, selling flags and flipping burgers. The Olympics (if we wanted them at all) should have been placed in the greatest economically-disadvantaged part of the province.

Or possably B'swana( I probably misspelled it) they need all the attentiopn and economic help they can get. But nobody would want to see all those prostitutes and beggars on the TV, so they would have to kill them all before the Games started. HEY HEY What do they have planned for the street people in Van de Couver?

Re: Thanks Trip!

No problem.

Claquot should have been saved, all of it, but the NDP let it go. The Liberals have let the fish farms go. How stupid is that? We need to protect the environment if we want to have a future,

Neither the NDP or the Liberals have any idea of what it means to protect the environment. The Liberals only care about the businesses, and the NDP only care about the unions. None of them care about the environment.
