Sorry old boy, but myself and others predicted exactly this. Not much of a prediction in fact as the information was there for anyone to see and understand.

No olympics has even made money or otherwise benefitted the taxpayer, they have all COST!

As pointed out more than once, the only benefit in the province will be in the Whistler-Vanc corridor.

Don;t draw parallalls with Expo either, this is a 10 day event at the most infospitable time of the year in BC. Ain't nobody going to be coming early or staying longer to visit Spuzzum.

But the taxpayers in Sopuzzum and their heirs will be paying for this gor another generation.

RC:

I thought the was a good indication that my post was made in sarcasm.

I, like you, was one of the ones who said it would lose money. That the estimates were low-balled to help sell it.

Nothing VANOC has said has made me think differently.

Damn, you are such an ignorant fool p(R)ick. It is more than just "the wealthy" that wanted the Olympics. You don't want them...tough luck. Hey, I don't want to pay for easy abortions, but I don't have a choice there either. That's life, get over it, and get over yourself.

btw, exactly what subsidies are "the wealthy" getting?

I'll give you. The rest you figure out.

Improved highway, so wealthy can drive their Lamborghinis to Whistler, instead of mass transit, so 'peasants' can 'dilute' the ambiance. Makes destination yet more attractive, and ups the price of staying there. All at taxpayer's expense. Plain as the nose on yer face..............

Well, I know plenty of people who aren't wealthy who use that highway every day. Others who go skiing, and even more that go diving at places like Whytecliff and Porteau Cove. None of these people are "rich". It's only you that seems to have a problem with people who have a little bit of discretionary spending at the end of each month.

Why is that Rick? Do you live in a hovel, and are green with envy when you see people driving a rusted out' 80 Honda Civic up the highway with a pair of skis on the roof?

You forgot to ask him if he paid back his Welfare Rick - that which we donated him in a non grudging fashion in his time of NEED, and for which he never said 'thanks'.

The problem these Wrongies have, Opie, is they think welfare for business is "the proper" way of doing things, but they can't explain why that is good, but welfare for actual people is bad.

They still adhere to this absurd "trickle down" concept, sort of like the good ol' Christmas tree, with all the goodies ending up around the base. But to get that Christmas tree, it has to be hacked off from it's roots, from it's life and from it's sustenance, and becomes nothing but a representative of death, hiding behind a façade of good times.

Actually Rick, I do not believe welfare for companies is good either. I have said it before, that if a company can't make it on its own, it should be allowed to fail. Subsidies, loans, and special tax concessions should not be granted to companies.

The problem lies in this, however, every other jurisdiction supplies these things, and in order for us to attract business, we have no choice but to follow suit.

Sure pal, you remember that the next time you collect your cheque from your boss, and remember that if some business didn't get their subsidy, he might be out of business...and then where will you be?

Maybe you need to grow up a little bit?
